WVCCU
- Notes from the President
May 3, 2004
WVCCU
has continued to move forward making strides to improve the quality
of early education for children in West Virginia. During this year
we have:
Collaborated
with WVAYC to continue to hire the services of Lobbyist, Pat
McGill. |
Sponsored
early childhood professional conference, "A Season for
Growth." |
Supported
Childrens Day at the Legislature. |
Continued
to offer valuable information on our web site www.wvccu.com |
We
were a strong force in stopping Legislatures from changing or
doing away with Policy 2525. |
Adopted
a health care insurance plan from MAMSI. |
Continue
to be recognized as an authority and advocate on childcare. |
Introduced
our first WVCCU Newsletter. Our editor is Mary Quick from Building
Blocks Child Development Center. |
Continue
to represent WVCCU at PIECES meetings in Charleston. We have
also added another WVCCU representative, Mary Quick. |
WVCCU
is represented at the WV Quality Infant and Toddler Child Care
Initiative State Team. |
WVCCU
is represented at the West Virginia Association for Young Children
(WVAYC) quarterly meetings and conferences. |
WVCCU
is represented on the Every Child Matters in West Virginia Steering
Committee. Our representative is Michelle McFall from Monroe
Early Childhood Center. |
Jean
Hawks from Fort Hill Child Development Center has represented
us at the WV Cross Coalition Meetings. |
We should be proud of ourselves. Childcare as a profession
is finally getting the recognition it deserves. But, we can not
seat on our laurels. There is much more to do! As you can see from
the above list it takes many directors to represent WVCCU. We are
now at a place that folks in West Virginia are asking and listening
to what we say. Now, we need to know what we want to say. We are
working on some ideas to build up our membership so that we could
keep our lobbyist throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Helen
